Set in the Silver Lake neighborhood of Los Angeles California, Sturman has spent the last five years passionately documenting the homes and residents of this significantly rich architectural enclave. From Richard Neutra to Gregory Ain, Rudolf Schindler to John Lautner, few neighborhoods in the world can boast such an architectural pedigree.
This mecca of mid-century design receives a new contemporary review through Sturman’s lens. Architecturally led, Sturman hand selected homes within the Silver Lake boundary with an open invitation to be apart of this exciting project. Beautifully crafted portraits offer a snapshot into the interior worlds beyond the street. Giving us not only an anthropological study of the people that live in these homes, but a sense of how modernism is being interpreted in the twenty first century.
With a forward by Andrew Romano, essay by David Netto, and artist statement by the photographer, we have a compelling new addition to the contemporary photography, architecture and design book landscape.
The book will be released in December 2026 along with a launch event celebrating its release with the Silver Lake and wider Los Angeles arts and architecture community.
